Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
I know pundits on TV are of wildly varying quality but all 3 of them on BBC today seemed to think that we can't play how we have in the first half in the last 2 matches and that we looked better once it was changed in the 2nd half. This is in line with what a lot of fans think.

The important thing is that the manager recognises it.

I'm surprised by this Valencia sakho talk... Carroll has looked a different player recently he is everywhere from leading the line to tackling on the edge of the box

If I didn't know better it seems like teddy is trying to turn him into a teddy with some success.....

"Oh shit don't tell me that I was watching some spoof TV feed??? I thought I was watching a live game where we beat a decent Bristol City side 1-0!!! Was that not the case and we lost just like Chelsea, Man City and Spurs??? Please tell me that we did win!!!!"

Yes we won Dick. If that makes everything fine in your book then you are clearly not really a knowledgeable supporter and clearly are what is known as a happy post96er

Agreed Grumpster it's not worth coming on here win lose or draw. Having a very decent squad but big sam as manager is like having playing with the handbrake on. But i can still enjoy being 7th in the league and in the 5th round of a weakened FA cup !

Shouldn't be playing if his performances in the last three games have been caused by injury Ern.

Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
If we're fourth not playing like that why is it ok for BFS to change that but not ok to expect him to try something that might see us look a bit more convincing first half - I.e. Play like we were before Xmas.

Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
Ernie mate I think Noble has been very poor recently. He's got a role to play, but it's from the bench for me, particularly if Fletcher comes in. We are moving forward and currently I think he's flailing behind. Hope he gets back to some sort of form of course but at the minute I find him very disappointing. Never been his biggest fan anyway but he's making it easy for his detractors at minute.

Song came back with a virus fuck all to do with team SAMs playing

Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
I do think our best forward choice is Valencia and Sakho, but you can't leave Carroll out after 5 goals in the last 9 games.

Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
We need to take it to the scousers... They are playing a game every 4 days we need to play high tempo and get that first goal

No sitting back Sam go for the jugular

Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
Agree Song hasn't performed last couple of matches but just coming back from injury not surprised, looks very slow but wouldn't want to write him off as disinterested.

Sam's tactics now seem to be first half slow tempo hope to snatch a goal first half, if not bring on the artillery, at the moment he is still getting the results so from his point of view can't see much change especially as he errs on caution, but either way the question seems to be about the style of play and whether we are going to get caught out by a team that bangs in a couple of goals in the first half.

Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
I'd say that every single match thread looks identical by the end of the day now win or lose.

Sam's a fat cunt.

Nolan is a useless scouse cunt.

Carroll should be dropped as he should be scoring every game and doesn't go on mazy runs like messi.

I mean I'm getting older and more miserable, but at least I can still enjoy the wins.

And Nolan should be behind both Morgan and poyet for me, but saying it every day won't make it happen.

Oh yeah I forgot TV commentators are always referring to players off screen and what they're doing aren't they?

Johnson 9:55 Sun Jan 25
Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
As you asked:

Positives

We are in a much higher position than last year indicated we would be.
Sakho looks a right find.
Carroll is staying fit
We've got a good chance at the FA Cup
Adrian and downing are having much better seasons

Not so positive - why does it have to be negative? Easy to dismiss then isn't it?

Insistence on playing Nolan is causing performances to deteriorate
We look a different team to the one that got us fourth before Xmas - mainly because we are different in terms of setup and personnel. This is deliberate and not due to any injury crisis.
Song has become disinterested in conjunction with performances deteriorating which also coincides with us returning to the BFS way of playing
People still seem to be praising us for things we were doing before Xmas that we're not doing anymore and no one seems to want to understand why that is

I won't bother with the off the pitch stuff.

Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
Noble started the season very well, but since his injury has looked absolutely awful.

Slow(er than usual), horrid ball control, terrible pass completion.

Even Song has looked incredibly off the pace and lethargic of late.

I do wonder if Allardyce does speed/agility training/fitness work? A few players have definitely got slower over the last month or two.

Even Valencia hasn't outsprinted a full back in the last few games! He could barely keep ahead of David Meyler against Hull!

Johnson 9:24 Sun Jan 25

I didn't claim to watch the game, I DID watch the game. I don't miss any game, even though I don't live in England.

Because the games are either streams or on TV you don't always see players movement off the ball, so I don't just watch, I listen too.

Probably too complicated for you to understand that.

Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
Johnson I don't bother debating much these days gets very personal, but I'll kick this one off

"Johnson what do you want?"
we know we are doing very well this year so far, so give us a few positives to start with and then perhaps the negatives that bother you, bearing in mind with any club or manager you will not get everything you want.

AdamL 9:39 Sun Jan 25
Re: Bristol City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
Noble wasn't materially any better than Nolan today IMO.
